Weston and unincorporated West Broward

The district serves the City of Weston, in addition to unincorporated areas of western Broward County. The geographical boundaries of the district are I-75 to the east, Collier County line to the west, Griffin Road to the south and Interstate I-595/I-75 to the north. Additionally, the district serves the unincorporated areas along US-27 from the Palm Beach County line to the Dade County line.

Bruce Angier

District Chief Bruce Angier

Bruce Angier was appointed District Fire Chief of Weston on June 11, 2016. Chief Angier began his fire service career as a Fire Cadet in his hometown volunteer fire department in Ocean City, Maryland at the age of 14. After moving to Florida in 1986, he was employed by the City of Boca Raton Fire-Rescue Services Department in 1988. Starting as an entry level Firefighter, Chief Angier rose through the ranks and served the citizens of Boca Raton as a Paramedic, a Driver/Operator, a Public Information Officer, an Operations Lieutenant, and an EMS Chief. Prior to joining the Broward Sheriff’s Office Department of Fire Rescue and Emergency Services in 2014, Chief Angier was an Operations Battalion Chief and served as the incident commander at some of the largest and most complex incidents in Boca Raton’s history. Chief Angier was selected by the Weston City Manager, Mr. John R. Flint, to serve as the City’s top fire administrator in 2016. He provides administrative and operational oversight of Weston’s three fire stations, consisting of four ALS rescue companies, three ALS engine companies, one ALS aerial company, a Fire Prevention Bureau, as well as all community fire and life safety prevention programs including the Weston Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).

Chief Angier has attended the National Fire Academy multiple times and participated in the Executive Fire Officer Program. Chief Angier is also a nationally accredited Chief Fire Officer and has been published in national fire journals. He holds three degrees; an AS degree in Fire Science, a bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, and a master’s degree in Emergency Management and Planning. He is certified in the State of Florida as a Firefighter, Paramedic, Fire Inspector and Fire Instructor. Additionally, Chief Angier has had technical training in virtually all disciplines within the fire service including; management of emergency medical service, risk reduction, hazardous materials response, elevated victim rescue, marine operations and advanced vehicle extrication. He is a member of the International Association of Fire Chiefs, the Florida Fire Chiefs’ Association and the Fire Chiefs' Association of Broward County.
